A little bit about Anodyne Design and a little bit about the life behind it. I'm Shannon, and I'm in love with all things creative. If I can't do it, I wish I could, and I'll probably try. More...

Blog Housekeeping

When I started the Anodyne Design blog just over a month ago, it was my plan to update every single day, and I have valiantly tried to stick to that plan. But back in the heady days of July, it was pretty easy to forget about school, or more specifically, about the dissertation I had hanging over my head. Now it’s September and the realities of being a full-time student have come back to me, and I have needed to reevaluate the way in which I will maintain this blog.

I think it is more important to be a consistent and reliable blogger than it is to announce you are going to update everyday and then not follow through. This is probably true for most of life. Better to agree to do something you are capable of, than to say you can do something huge and then fail. Do the latter, and you’ll disappoint yourself and others (and in the world of blogging, disappointment can mean lost readers.) Believing this to be true, I have decided to revise my policy on when and how frequently I will post updates to Anodyne Design. From now on, I plan to update this blog every week day. I’m taking the weekends off, and you should, too–go out and live life to fullest, instead of reading blogs on the weekends!

I have also decided to dedicate a particular day to sharing a photo. I know Photo Friday is a popular idea, but I’ve always been something of a deviant and I’d like to start my week with a photo. So for now, it will be Photo Mondays at Anodyne Design. We’ll see how it goes, and if we need to switch to Fridays, we’ll do that later.

And while I’m working on refining my vision for Anodyne Design, please consider leaving me a comment about what you do or do not like about the blog. What would you like to see more of? Is there something missing here? If you’re a regular, what keeps you coming back? A blog is nothing without readers, so I’m invested in keeping you happy. Let me know how I can do that.
