About Anodyne Design
Anodyne Design is the name of my Etsy shop, as well as this blog. This blog was created to accompany and expand upon my Etsy shop. To know more about the name “Anodyne Design,” see this post. Currently, my shop features a variety of different wallets, purses, totes, and wristlets, and I may expand into fabric headbands and quilts in the future. Feel free to check out my feedback!
I update the blog daily at 8 a.m.–but I take weekends off, and so should you! Remember to check back every weekday (or add Anodyne Design to your feed reader) for featured independent sellers, crafty tips and links, information about blogging and selling, and the latest news about Anodyne Design!
About Me
My name is Shannon, and I am a graduate student trying to finish up my Ph.D. I like to sew as a way to do something completely unrelated to school. I also love cats (especially my two!) and keeping tropical fish. I enjoy cooking (but not cleaning up) and reading. Perhaps because of these two interests, it should be no surprise that I enjoy reading cookbooks–not just the recipes, but the often ignored text, too.
Lissa over at Bully Beads asked me to list 7 random facts about myself, so here they are:
- I cannot live without lip balm. I’ve tried, and I can’t go without it for more than an hour when I’m awake. Sometimes I’ll put it on when I wake up in the middle of the night. See my extended discussion “Lip Balm: Everlasting Love or Addiction?“
- The internet has been good to me. I have had a personal website or blog since 1996 (but, of course, Anodyne Design is the coolest incarnation to date). And it’s where I met my husband. We’ve been together for 5 years, so I think it’s going to stick.
- I have a special affection for unpopular animals, such as banana slugs and sloths. I also love popular animals.
- I can touch my nose with my tongue. I don’t know if I should be proud of this or not.
- I double-majored in college. One of my majors was Literary Studies, just because I liked it. I am now qualified to recommend good books to you. Just ask.
- I am a web-design snob. This made me fairly unpopular with other web designers who wanted to do their own cool thing, rather than achieve consistency throughout our institution. You can see some of my thoughts about good web design in my post, “Optimize Your Blogging–Finding New Readers.”Especially the bit about the basics.
- I don’t play fair when it comes to memes. For example, this one here requires that I “tag” 7 more people to share 7 facts about themselves. I’m just not a big tagger. If you want to be tagged, consider yourself tagged. If you don’t, then I didn’t tag you and we can still be friends. Cool?
